3-Indoxyl Phosphate
|
Indoxyl Phosphate is hydrolyzed rapidly by alkaline phosphatase to form indol-3-ol which is readily oxidized in solution by ambient oxygen under basic environment to form blue indigo. It has been reported to be of use for the histochemical demonstration of alkaline phosphatase (Heyman, H. and Seligman, A., J. Med. Chem., 10, 662, 1967). This blue indigo is directly proportional to the level of enzyme present. It has also been used in the determination of prostatic acid phosphatase.
